Self translation -Books have lost relevance

Books have lost relevance

Books are the Mirrors of civil strife and upheaval
Books are  the hallmark of civilization
Books have no mind & eyes stop atrocities
Books have no courage to revolt against cruelties

Everyday day we read  stories from  from towns and cities,
These horrific clippings are shown 24x7 on TV channels
Lives being lost outside hospitals due to poverty,
Young girls loosing their innocence by rape and incest
Elders and young alike being murdered in broad daylight,
Clips of parents forced to sell their young children
People sharing the torn, old clothes & worn out clothe
To protect them from cold wave of winter months
Helpless people avoiding  the wrath of brutal police force
People living in hellish lives in cities
We look with apathy as if these are not our countrymen
But some unwanted refugees from a third world country

Why do our heart no longer melts ?
Books no longer covers struggle of poor people
Perhaps the written words have lost relevance
They no longer motivates the   generation.
Now we have to drop bookish knowledge,
understand the pain and agony of this New India
The  darkness under the brightly illuminated fake cities

It is  time to stop  writing  poetry on young love & emotions
Must be associated with pain and sorrow of our countrymen
Work collectively for the eradication of unequalities
Between the  artificial layers  of people
Let  everyone have  opportunities to carve out their destiny
We have to rebuild our Nation onc
e again
